New Vice Chief of Medical Staff - Ernie Quiroz, MD

Ernest Quiroz, MD, Family Medicine, has been elected by the active medical staff for the Vice Chief of Staff term, beginning July 1, 2009 until June 30, 2011. This announcement was made at the annual general medical staff meeting, and the election results will be ratified by the Medical Executive Committee and Board of Trustees in June.

Quiroz’s Statement of Intent:

"Since finishing medical school at MSU-CHM ('80) and Family Medicine residency ('84), I have been involved with The Grant Family Heath Center as a rural medical director, chairman of the KCMS Committee for the Underserved, medical director for the Saint Mary's HealthLink Offices (including Clinica Santa Maria and Heartside), Behavior Medicine coordinator for the GR Family Medicine Residency, nine years on the Saint Mary's Board of Directors, two years on the Saint Mary's Medical Executive Committee and recently serving as President of the Advantage Health P.C.

As much as I enjoyed serving in the above capacities, my passion is in direct patient care. I have continued to practice primary care medicine throughout all these years. I believe that I have the desire and ability to serve as vice chief of staff and later chief of staff to facilitate the physicians of Saint Mary's Health Care, to further our mission to provide kind compassionate and excellent medical care for the Grand Rapids community"”
